"History itself is cyclical in nature. Icons are toppled and yet their legacy endures for centuries. Movements towards justice and freedom are suppressed by greed and a lust for power. This violence is a self-perpetuating system. Oppression begets oppression. Past and the present exist simultaneously." (Zachary Flick)
Publicity for JULIUS CAESAR focused on highlighting the connection between Rome and modern day America, exploring the idea of a republic in decline yet still basking in its exceptionalism.
Visually, this connection is conveyed through the physical entity of statues - a bridge between the past that existed and present being. Images we captured of actors highlighted the duality of their roles: We wanted them to seem half-alive, half-calcified, simultaneously agents in today's society, and archetypes - and warnings - from the Shakespearean past.

The scenes depicted are: A study break at JJ's Place, a campus late night lounge, and the sign-in line at EC, the campus party dorm.
